Course DescriptionThrough lecture presentations, gallery visits, artists' talks, readings, discussions, and assignments, the history, theory, and production of photography as an art form will be explored. The major approaches to 20th and 21st century photographic art, and their corresponding theoretical bases and cultural contexts, will be examined. Throughout the course, students will develop their own photographic art projects with the goal of producing coherent bodies of work for exhibition.
