How to Enrol in a Course

Ready to enrol in a course at The Chang School? You have three options.

Enrol Online

You can enrol online through the shopping cart feature on our website.

Getting Started Checklist

Before you begin, you must have the following:

  1. Ryerson University Student Number
    If you are a new student, you will need to obtain a Ryerson Student Number. If you previously applied to or attended Ryerson, you already have a Ryerson Student Number. Visit Request or Retrieve Your Ryerson Student Number for details. Note: This process may take up to two business days.
     
  2. Active my.ryerson username and password
    If you have a student email account at Ryerson University, then you have a my.ryerson username and password. If you can’t remember your password, visit my.ryerson.ca and select “Need help?” to reset your password. If you don’t have a my.ryerson username, visit Ryerson's Accounts page.
     
  3. Your web browser and Internet security software configured to allow for JavaScript and cookies
     
  4. Valid Visa, MasterCard, or American Express credit card to pay the total course fees

Step 1: Find Your Course

Find the course you’re interested in using our Course Search or by browsing our website.

Choose a course section and select “Add to Cart”. A pop-up will display the items in your cart. Selecting "Close" will allow you to continue browsing the website. Selecting "Checkout" will take you to a page that displays the items in your cart and begins the checkout process.

Once all the courses you are interested in have been added to your cart, select "Checkout".

The system will ask you to confirm that you have a Ryerson Student Number and an active my.ryerson username before you can continue your checkout. Select "Checkout". A window will open to transmit your shopping cart to RAMSS (located at my.ryerson.ca). If a Security Alert screen appears asking for permission to proceed, select “Yes” or the window will close and your shopping cart will be emptied.

Step 2: Log in to RAMSS

Log in to my.ryerson.ca by entering your username and password. Select “Login.”

When you select the RAMSS tab in my.ryerson.ca, it will open in a new window. If your browser has pop-up windows blocked, you will need to choose the option “always allow pop-ups for this site” in order for RAMSS to open. Note that your my.ryerson.ca session will remain active in the original window.

If you do not have a my.ryerson username, you will not be able to proceed with online enrolment. Upon return to the Chang School website, your shopping cart will be emptied. If you need help with your my.ryerson account, visit Login Help on Ryerson's Computing and Communications Services (CCS) website.

Step 3: Confirm Your Course Selection

The classes from the term-specific shopping cart are now displayed in RAMSS. You will have 10 minutes to complete your enrolment. Select the “Enrolment Shopping Cart” to continue. Then select your terms.

Select the course and choose “enrol.” Proceed to the next step in RAMSS. If you encounter an error message during the enrolment process, review the message for instructions on how to resolve the issue.

Step 4: Pay for Your Course

Review the summary on the Enrolment Confirmation screen, which includes all fees applicable to your transaction.

Enter your credit card details and select “make a payment.” If you do not complete this step, or if the credit card payment cannot be processed, your enrolment transaction will be cancelled.

A confirmation screen will appear indicating that the payment and enrolment were successful. Once you receive the confirmation, you may continue to use RAMSS or you may return to the Chang School website. If you had multiple shopping carts, repeat steps 2 to 4 for each one. When you are finished using RAMSS, exit my.ryerson.ca by selecting the logout link.

Please bring a copy of your RAMSS enrolment to your first class and have it available for the duration of your course(s). Students not officially enrolled in a course are not permitted to attend class.

Note: Read the course description carefully to ensure that the course you wish to enrol in does not require an interview or placement assessment, or any prerequisites that you have not taken. If you are enrolling in a course that requires an interview or placement assessment, you must obtain permission before enrolling. Online enrolments will not be accepted for courses requiring an interview or placement assessment that has not been completed.

Enrol in Person

Complete and submit the In-person Enrolment form available at the ServiceHub. Please bring your photo ID and be prepared to pay all of your fees when you come to enrol. All fees must be paid in full at time of enrolment. You will be immediately dropped from all associated courses for non-payment of fees. Any students with outstanding fees will be required to clear their debt before completing any further enrolments.

Enrolment forms will be accepted before the third scheduled class if space is still available; however, in Business, online, and Language courses (including ESL/EAL), you must enrol before the second scheduled class.

Enrol by Mail

To enrol by mail, you must complete a Mail-in Enrolment Form. This form is being updated and is not currently available. Please check back soon for an updated form.  

Please note: the Mail-in Enrolment Form is for mailing only and will not be accepted for in-person enrolment.

Return the completed form and full payment of the course fees to the ServiceHub, Ryerson University, 350 Victoria Street, Toronto, Ontario, M5B 2K3. Mail-in enrolment requests will not be accepted unless full fees are enclosed. (Postdated cheques will not be accepted.)
