Course Description

For photographers who want to improve their photographic skills, and for beginners, this course offers an intensive investigation of the basics of black and white photography. Substantial time is given to learning the basic technical aspects of photography: precise exposure, processing of film, darkroom procedures, and printing skills receive particular emphasis. As well, the major approaches to black and white photography are explored through lecture and assignment projects. (Formerly Techniques of Photography I)

Notes

Supplies to be purchased by the student: Film and photographic papers (minimum $150). The student must have a manually adjustable small/medium format camera and access to a tripod.
