The three courses we offer give you step-by-step, hands-on knowledge of the dynamic, multifaceted world of make-up artistry. We encourage you to consider completing all three courses and receive a Professional Development Award. But you’re also welcome to enrol in just one or two if that approach suits your needs better.
The first step on your learning journey is CDTH 448 - Introduction to Make-Up Techniques for Theatre and Film. This course will give you a deep understanding of make-up materials, equipment, and techniques, as well as facial anatomy and foundations.
Next up is CDTH 431 - Make-Up Artistry for Film Video and TV. This course will deepen your understanding of make-up artistry techniques and prepare you for entry into this vibrant profession.
You’ll wrap up your studies with CDTH 435 - Special Effects Make-Up for Stage and Screen. Here you’ll gain in-depth training in special effects make-up as it’s applied in film, TV, and theatre. And, unique to The Chang School, you’ll learn about the art and science of prosthetics, a crucial component of make-up artistry in today’s entertainment business.
Jane Stevenson teaches all three Advanced Make-Up Artistry and Special Effects courses. A leading make-up professional for 45 years and teacher for 35 years, Jane brings a wealth of applied skills, industry knowledge, and instructional savvy to every course.
In addition to teaching at The Chang School, Jane is currently a make-up artist with CBC Television. Her past credits include make-up work on The Twilight Zone, History Bites, Kung Fu: The Legend Continues, and the long-running stage musical Cats.
