Fund description

CESAR logoThe G. Raymond Chang School of Continuing Education, in collaboration with the Continuing Education Students' Association of TMU (CESAR), has established a student emergency fund to provide one-time financial support to continuing education and part-time students who are experiencing financial hardship. Funding has been provided by The Chang School and CESAR, and will be administered through the Office of the Dean at The Chang School.

Eligibility & guidelines

  • To be eligible to receive these funds, you must be a continuing education or part-time student either currently enrolled in a Chang School course (Spring/Summer 2020), or have completed a course in the past two terms (Fall 2019 or Winter 2020). We suggest that full-time undergraduate students in need refer to their home faculty for emergency funding.
  • You must demonstrate financial hardship.
  • Eligible expenses include, but are not limited to:
    • Internet charges;
    • Groceries and shelter;
    • Unexpected program/equipment expenses.

We are offering financial assistance up to $500.00 based on need (additional funding may be considered in exceptional situations and on a case by case basis). We ask that you please apply for only the amount needed to ensure that this fund can support as many students as possible.

Only one application per student will be considered. If you have received funding from the TMU Student Relief Fund, you may not be eligible for this fund.

We respect your privacy. All applications will be handled in strict confidence by a small, select committee consisting of Chang School staff and a representative from CESAR. Your identity, circumstances and requests will not be shared outside of this group of personnel. Information collected will be used solely to determine eligibility and need for The Chang School/CESAR Student Emergency Fund.

We recommend that you keep your request clear, concrete and concise. Your application will be reviewed based on need and availability of funds, and not on your writing ability.

Application deadline

We will accept and review applications on a continuous basis. We will make every effort to review applications upon receipt and communicate our decisions quickly.

For questions or assistance with completing your application, please contact Brendan Curran, Community Relations and Special Projects Coordinator (bcurran@torontomu.ca).

Other funding opportunities
